Schweizer Zither-Kultur-Zentrum, Trachselwald
It is the only museum in Switzerland to display a collection of all the zithers played in Switzerland, from the early days to the present.
Zither collection
Since 2003, the museum has been housed in the offices of the 1614 Amtsschaffnerei in the pretty Emmental village of Trachselwald. Around 110 instruments document more than 200 years of development and culture, supplemented by sheet music, patent specifications, pictures, and detailed accessories.
Public guided tour and concert
Every first Sunday of the month, a guided tour and concert take place in the museum.
Private events
The rooms are also used for private events (family celebrations, company outings, etc.), as a music school, for introductory and advanced courses, seminars, workshops, and conferences. The atmospheric vaulted cellar (13 x 5 x 3 meters) from 1770, with its excellent acoustics, can be used as a small theater and can also be rented for concerts, festive occasions, aperitifs, and meals.
Private tours and concerts
Available all year round on request.
