Privatmuseum: Uhrenausstellung im Gasthof Kreuz, Sumiswald
Since January 2022, the historic Gasthof Kreuz inn in Sumiswald has been home to the largest publicly accessible collection of clocks manufactured in Sumiswald.
The collection includes the widely known black pendulum clocks from Jakob Zaugg to Moser-Baer, station clocks in various designs, second regulators from Leuenberger to J.G.Baer, and various master clocks, which control other clocks without their own movement by means of mechanical or electrical connections. The clocks are displayed in various rooms of the unique building. The exhibition actually begins in the restaurant, continues through the clock room (formerly the music room) on the first floor, and ends in the impressive Gotthelf Hall. A total of around 150 clocks are currently on display, and the number is increasing every week. Lovers of antique clocks will get their money's worth, as will residents of Sumiswald and the surrounding area who want to learn about the watchmaking tradition that has been making the name Sumiswald famous throughout the world for more than 200 years.
