Moosegg and surroundings
Near Langnau in the Emmental, at an altitude of 950 meters, lies the beautiful Moosegg viewpoint with its panoramic restaurants, also known for the performances held here by the Moosegg open-air theater. The "gastronomic views" along the hiking trail are also tempting. The view of the Alpine chain is incomparably beautiful. The chains of the Schrattenfluh, Hohgant, Sieben Hengste, and Sigriswilgrat stretch from the Wetterhorn to Altels. To the right is the Niesen, with the Emme valley in the foreground below. The local cuisine also reflects the region's connection to the landscape with its locally produced products, known as "Ämmitaler Ruschtig."
How to get there
- On foot: The hiking trails to and from Blasenfluh, Emmenmatt, and Zollbrück converge at Moosegg. One of the many hiking trails is the Alpine Panorama Trail of Hiking SwitzerlandMobil.
- By public transport: Accessible to the Emmenmatt, Hotel Moosegg, Moosegg, and Waldhäusern BE, Kurhaus stops
- By e-bike: The viewing balcony can be reached via the "Herzroute 99" and "Moosegg Rundi" trails.
- By car: Moosegg can be reached by car via Emmenmatt or Biglen, with parking available at the Waldhäusern inn and the Hotel Moosegg.
Activities
- Visit the Moosegg open-air theater during the summer months. Plays with strong links to the Emmental region are performed here, as well as those that suit the unique charm of the large forest stage.
- There is a great playground with tables and benches for young and old at the Waldhäusern inn.
Food
- There are two restaurants here where you can stop for a bite to eat: the Hotel Moosegg and the Gasthof Waldhäusern.
- Unpack a cervelat sausage and grill it at one of the three different barbecue areas at the edge of the forest. There are no grill grates or tables, but there are plenty of benches and more than enough firewood lying around in the woods.
