History
At Marktgasse 18 in the center of Sumiswald stands an imposing house, the Stettlerhaus, named after one of its former owners. The building was constructed in 1828 as a detached structure on top of a cellar dating from 1806. From 1896 to 1922, the post office and telegraph office were located on the ground floor. After it was sold to the municipality in 1962, the municipal works department moved into the farm building. In October 2020, the Stettlerhaus was transferred to Mr. and Mrs. Kühni, who seized the opportunity to realize their shared, very special vision of a market hall.

Both customers and producers benefit from the concept: with a range of products for everyday needs as well as many gift items, there is plenty to discover. You can also celebrate great parties at the large regulars' table, which can seat up to 20 people. The catering team is also happy to support you with your event outside the restaurant.

- Follow the route "Where the black spider lived." This hike connects the historic towns of Sumiswald and Dürrenroth.
- Various bike routes such as "Dr gross Sumiswalder," "Gotthelf's Schwarze Spinne," "Lüdere Rundi," "Herzschlaufe 399," and "Gotthelf Schlaufe" run along MARKTGASSE18. If your bike breaks down on the way, you will find "VELOMECHEREI," a specialist bicycle shop specializing in e-bikes and bicycles, opposite, in the large building at Marktgasse 9.
