Langnau Haus & Hof
Langnau Tourism has created the "House & Farm" themed trail to highlight the diversity and cultural and historical significance of the local farmhouses, granaries, and Stöckli.
The trail begins at the rear of Gohlgraben at the Obeningohl farmstead, a magnificent complex consisting of two farmhouses, a granary, a Stöckli (small house) and a pretty garden with boxwood beds. The buildings all date from the 17th century and, according to the cantonal monument preservation authority, are among the "architectural monuments worthy of protection that must be preserved intact due to their significant architectural quality or distinctive characteristics." This designation also applies to most of the following 13 farms that can be encountered on the approximately two-hour hike.
Through the Gohlgraben
On behalf of Langnau Tourism and with the support of the Gohl local association, Langnau project manager and layout designer Hanspeter Buholzer has created the brochure "Haus & Hof" (House & Farm), which presents 14 farms between Obeningohl and Fansrüti. The expert text was written by Madeleine Ryser, director of the Langnau Regional Museum, and the atmospheric pictures were taken by local photographer Daniel Fuchs. The sunny side of the Gohlgraben was chosen because, in addition to the large number of remarkable farms, the route from Obenigohl via Stöckeren down to Langnau faces south and offers a unique view of the Bernese Alps. The trail leads mainly through green meadows on a gentle downward slope and is therefore also suitable for less experienced hikers.
Duration of the hike: 2 hours
Distance: 8 km
Schools and groups
The hike is suitable for schools and groups.
