Landgasthof Bären

An authentic inn steeped in history. The Landgasthof Bären in the heart of the farming village of Madiswil is a long-established inn that has held a tavern license since 1672. The historic building is not only home to genuine hospitality, but also to high-quality cuisine. The kitchen, under the leadership of head chef Patrick Pfister, has been awarded 14 Gault Millau points.

Cuisine
Those who appreciate good food are sure to be delighted by the dishes served at the Bären. Whether it's Bären classics such as cordon bleu, specialities such as grilled Oberaargau veal steak or exquisite fish variations – chef Patrick Pfister's cuisine is impressive from start to finish, from the amuse-bouche to the zabaglione. The cuisine at the Bären is seasonal and the dishes are prepared with fresh products, mainly from the region. The wine cellar stores fine wines, which Martin Binnemann selects with great knowledge and love. However, it would be a shame to use the cellar, which dates back to 1646, solely as a storage room; it is a wonderful place for an aperitif or tasting accompanied by food.

Celebrations & meetings
The Gaststube and Gaststübli are the heart of the house. This is where everything comes together, where the kitchen meets the guests and the service meets the kitchen. This is where people meet for a cozy chat over a cup of coffee, an aperitif, or simply a beer. At lunchtime and in the evening, all the wonderful delicacies are served here. The rear part of the restaurant, the romantic dining room, can seat up to 16 people.

The Bärenstube has been popular and well-known for generations. The Bärenstube has hosted countless celebrations since 1672. Will your next event also take place in the Bärenstube? It can accommodate 20-40 people.

The perfect place for a small, intimate celebration in a private setting is the Linksmähderstübli, which can accommodate up to 14 people. Close to the hustle and bustle of daily life, yet slightly secluded, it offers a successful blend of openness and privacy.

On the first floor of the building, wonderful celebrations can be held in style in the Bärensaal (Bear Hall). Round tables can seat up to 80 people. Add the stage and you can easily accommodate 60 more guests for your event. The Bärensaal is also suitable for conferences of all kinds, with modern infrastructure. In keeping with the motto "work before pleasure," you will be well looked after not only during your event, but also after its successful conclusion.

Enjoy delicious specialties from the kitchen in the beautiful Bären garden. A place to relax! True to the motto "Hakuna Matata" – there are no problems here because everything is just fine. Whether it's a cozy meal with friends, a romantic evening, or just a dessert, our garden has room for everyone.
The Bären has a former natural stone cellar where potatoes, beets, apples, and schnapps. Today, this room is used for celebrations.
