Hohwacht, Langnau

Leisurely farmhouses, winding forest paths, scenic high-altitude trails, and picturesque views of the Stockhorn chain and Hohgant.

Hohwacht and surroundings
The Hochwacht Langnau is located on a panoramic hilltop of the mountain range that stretches between the beautiful valleys of the Ilfis and the Emme. The views stretch from the Napf chain to Mount Pilatus and from the striking Schrattenfluh via the Hohgant to the Bernese Alps. The location on the meadows of the Hohwacht is ideal for a specific purpose; a comprehensive, wide panoramic view opens up from up there, which must have been dominant in the past when it was not yet restricted by forest and fruit trees. The Hochwacht is 1,028 meters above sea level and the surrounding area has been known since ancient times as "zum Strick." At the foot of the hill stands a stately, typical Emmental farmhouse, whose design has remained unchanged since its construction in 1785, and the newer Kurhaus Hochwacht, which blends in well with the mountain landscape, closed its doors in 2014.
