Adventure trail

With the exception of wind energy, the municipality of Langnau has exemplary projects in all relevant areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency. The Langnau Energy Adventure makes these accessible to the public. Each location is marked by information boards that provide passers-by and visitors with background knowledge about the form of energy produced at that location or show how energy is used responsibly.

Locations

To date, the Energy Experience comprises eight locations, with more in the pipeline. Each location has an overview map that guides tourists and locals through Langnau by bike or on foot, revealing an unknown side of the municipality.

The background

Today, 94% of the energy demanded in the Emmental in the form of electricity, heat, and fuel is imported. Around 200 million Swiss francs flow out of the Emmental region every year for this purpose. This does not have to be the case: with a little ingenuity, 80% of the energy required can be provided regionally and from renewable sources! This means jobs for the region and a crisis-proof and largely CO2-neutral energy supply.
