Chuderhüsi Turm, Röthenbach
The 42-meter-high Chuderhüsi observation tower is built of silver fir wood and is one of the tallest wooden towers in Switzerland.
Viewing platform
The 37-meter-high observation tower is reached via 195 steps. From there, you can enjoy a wonderful view over the forests and rolling hills of the Emmental to the Alps. The idea to build an observation tower came from locals on the 850th anniversary of the founding of the municipality of Röthenbach in the Emmental. The wooden observation tower, which was built with contributions from the canton and the local community, was inaugurated in 1998. Unfortunately, it burned down in less than three years. However, a few days after this sad event, it was decided to build a new tower. This new tower was opened in 2002.
Getting there and parking
Chuderhüsi can be reached on foot, by car, or in summer on weekends by hiking bus. The observation tower is a 10-minute walk from the Chuderhüsi restaurant via a hiking trail. The observation tower is adjacent to the two bike tours "Herzschlaufe Langnau" and "Signau Rundi."
Activities
- The Würzbrunnen Church, which is believed to be around 1,000 years old, is located nearby. Scenes for the film adaptation of Gotthelf's novels were shot here. Today, weddings, funerals, and church services are held in the Würzbrunnen Church. It is well worth a visit.
- The Chuderhüsi ski lift is particularly family-friendly with its well-groomed slopes and affordable rates. Parking is available free of charge. A children's park, snowboard park, sledding hill, slope lighting for evening skiing, and the Pistenstübli restaurant round out the offerings and guarantee snow sports fun for everyone.

- The nearby Chuderhüsi restaurant is an alcohol-free excursion restaurant run by people who have found their way to El Rafa from difficult circumstances and are taking the opportunity to make a new start in life.
