Waldlehrpfad, Lützelflüh
The popular and beautiful forest nature trail stretches from the Lützelflüh community center to Rüegsauschachen in the Emmental valley and takes about 1 hour to hike. The trail leads up to the Brandis castle ruins, where a beautiful barbecue area invites you to linger.
The "nature trail" was created between 1977 and 1979 by the Forestry Commission of the Emmental Chamber of Commerce.
The trail aims to awaken interest in the beauty and secrets of nature among young and old alike and to offer hikers a variety of recreational activities.
Thirty information boards along the trail through the beautiful Brandis Forest provide information about native birds and plants as well as the geology. The forest nature trail also passes the castle ruins of the Barons of Brandis, one of the most important dynasties in German-speaking Switzerland. The castle was probably built around 1200 by Konrad von Brandis. The castle saw many rulers and good and bad times, and was unfortunately completely destroyed by fire on April 14, 1798.
Since 2009, the municipality of Lützelflüh has been responsible for maintaining the forest nature trail. It was able to transfer the restoration and maintenance to the EGW project in Grünen-Sumiswald by agreement, which has inventoried the forest nature trail and now maintains it carefully.
