Restaurant Krummholzbad, Heimisbach
The cozy restaurant, serving good Emmental cuisine, is located somewhat secluded in the rear Heimisbach-Grabe.
History
In 1823, Johann Sterchi applied for permission to open a spa. However, due to the low value of the water, the cantonal government did not grant permission for it to be used as a medicinal spa. In the book "Bäder und klimatische Kurorte der Schweiz" (Baths and Climatic Health Resorts of Switzerland), written in 1880, Krummholzbad was described as follows: "Krummholzbad, a stately, 4-story building with 6 guest rooms and 3 in the annex (today Stöckli), 5 bathing cabinets with 10 wooden tubs. The spring contains carbonated magnesia and carbonated lime earth and is used to treat rheumatic limb pain and headaches, as well as for cleansing baths in the surrounding area." Of course, fine cuisine and social interaction already played an important role back then. In 1927, Christian Sommer, the grandfather of the current family of innkeepers, bought Krummholzbad. The restaurant business also included a farm. At the beginning of the 1930s, the spa business was gradually discontinued. However, spa guests still came regularly to enjoy the peace and quiet and the local cuisine. Today, the Sommer family is in its third generation of running the restaurant. Across all generations, however, the motto has remained the same: "hearty and good."

The dining room offers space for a cheerful gathering among friends, a cozy dinner at the rustic wooden tables, or a nightcap after a busy day. A terrace protected from the elements right at the entrance to the restaurant offers space for a cozy drink in the summer.
Cuisine
Enjoy the peace and quiet with a glass of wine or a coffee with cream in the cozy dining room or on the sheltered terrace. You will be spoiled with local, hearty fare. Seasonal products round off the menu.
Banquets and events
Various rooms and the kitchen are ideal for family occasions and groups, company and club outings. The Dürrgrabnstube is suitable for banquets, à la carte dining, family celebrations, or as a meeting and seminar room. The large old ballroom is ideal for seminars or banquets, dancing, theater performances, or presentations of all kinds. The rustic, sloping (in the truest sense of the word) wooden construction lives up to the name "Krummholzbad" (crooked wood bath). The small, elegant Badstübli is suitable for up to 12 people. The entire ground floor (dining rooms, Dürrgrabenstube, Badstübli, and terrace) is wheelchair accessible. The wheelchair-accessible restroom is located on the same floor.
